About the event

Join Wild New Forest Guided Tours for a three-hour wildlife watching walk exploring the shoreline between Ashlett Creek and Calshot, an excellent area for winter birdwatching on the edge of Southampton Water.

Starting at picturesque Ashlett Creek, we’ll follow the coast towards Calshot, stopping regularly to scan the shoreline, saltmarsh and open water for wildlife. During the winter months this stretch of coast can support a wonderful variety of waders and wildfowl, with flocks of Brent Geese a particular feature of the area.

We’ll keep watch for feeding and roosting waders along the shoreline, while Southampton Water offers the chance of seeing a variety of diving birds and other wetland species. Divers can sometimes be seen offshore during the winter, alongside grebes, sea ducks and other coastal birds.

At Calshot we’ll have time to explore the shoreline and scan Southampton Water before retracing our route back towards Ashlett Creek.
