About the event
Join us for a wonderful four-hour wildlife walk exploring the varied landscapes around Breamore Woods and Down, where ancient woodland, open chalk downland and sweeping views combine to create a particularly rewarding place for wildlife watching.
We’ll begin beside the ancient Saxon church at Breamore, where we’ll spend some time looking for Hawfinches and exploring the surrounding woodland for seasonal fungi. From here, we’ll make our way past Breamore House and into the woods, keeping watch for a variety of woodland birds as we follow the tracks through this attractive part of the estate.
Our route then takes us towards the historic Breamore Mizmaze, another excellent area for Hawfinch, before continuing out onto the open downs. Here the landscape changes dramatically, with wide views across the surrounding countryside and the opportunity to search for characteristic farmland and downland birds such as Corn Bunting, Yellowhammer and Grey Partridge.
We’ll complete a circular…
