Discover the Seasonal Butterflies of the New Forest.

Join us for a relaxed and immersive walk as we explore New Forest habitats in search of seasonal butterfly species. Guided by an experienced naturalist, we’ll take our time wandering through heathland, woodland edges, and wildflower-rich glades — the perfect places to spot some of the forest’s most beautiful insects.

Along the way, we’ll look for a variety of butterflies depending on the season, from delicate hairstreaks and bright meadow species to fast-flying skippers and fritillaries. We’ll discuss key identification features, behaviour, and the plants these butterflies depend on throughout their life cycles.

While butterflies are our main focus, we’ll also pause to appreciate any other wildlife we encounter, including dragonflies, wildflowers, birds, and other invertebrates that bring the New Forest to life in summer.
