Join us for a full-day wildlife adventure exploring the stunning chalk grasslands of Martin Down National Nature Reserve, one of southern England’s finest sites for butterflies, birds, and wildflowers.
Our main focus will be on butterflies, with classic species such as Duke of Burgundy, Marsh Fritillary, and Adonis Blue among our targets. The area is also home to a rich array of chalk downland birds, and we’ll be looking for Yellowhammer, Corn Bunting, and perhaps even the gentle purring of a Turtle Dove.
Martin Down is equally renowned for its flora, and at this time of year the grassland should be alive with colour. We’ll search for Burnt-tip Orchid and Greater Butterfly Orchid, along with other botanical highlights such as Rock Rose and drifts of Cowslips in full bloom.
