What the Duck? – A Coastal Walk at Lymington
Ever looked out across the coast and wondered what on earth that duck actually is? This relaxed, curiosity-led walk is all about slowing down, watching closely, and getting to know the wonderfully varied world of ducks that use this coastline.
Time & Location
15 Feb 2026, 12:00 – 14:30
Bath Road, Bath Rd, Lymington SO41, UK
About the event
Set beneath big skies and alongside winding creeks of the Lymington-Keyhaven Marshes, we’ll explore this rich coastal landscape while learning how to tell duck species apart, recognise different behaviours, and understand what draws so many birds here throughout the year.
As well as enjoying the birds themselves, we’ll look at how this coastal habitat works as a living system and why it’s such an important refuge for wildlife. We’ll talk about the challenges these birds face, how human activity can affect them, and the small, practical things we can all do to help protect this special place while still enjoying it.
There’ll be plenty of time for watching, chatting, and asking questions, and those moments when ducks suddenly stop all looking the same.
This walk is informal, welcoming, and designed for anyone with an interest in nature — no experience needed.
Perfect for bird-curious beginners, wildlife lovers, and anyone who’s…
