About the event
The New Forest may be England’s smallest national park, but it’s bursting with incredible wildlife. Its ancient woodlands and open heaths are home to thousands of free-roaming ponies, cattle, donkeys, pigs and deer — including the iconic New Forest Ponies.
Join us on the Wild Wilverley Walk, a guided journey through a special part of the forest, where you’ll explore beautiful landscapes and have the chance to encounter ponies, deer, and a variety of other wildlife. Along the way, you’ll discover the forest’s rich history — from its creation as a royal hunting ground for William the Conqueror nearly 1,000 years ago to its modern-day role in conservation, responsible recreation, and sustainable forestry and farming.
Led by experienced local wildlife experts, this gentle 2–3 km walk is the perfect introduction to the New Forest National Park.
